[BOOK OF DATA] CHAPTER SIX

chapter 6


i. You will only meet the designated ‘good guys’ until it’s far too late. Reserve judgement.


ii. A solid vehicle is the most hip investment you’ll ever make.


iii The music will not set you free.


iv. You won’t be original if you attempt to make sense of the world. You have a better chance if you try to make a world of your sense.


v. Tailoring your music to the crowd is redundant. Your music will tailor the crowd itself.


vi. Don’t buy into it, let it ring out. Remember collapse.


vii. You are not a mass, Nor is this one.


viii. It’s tricky getting out of a gang.


ix. Most people swing to entertainment. That’s life for now.


x. Faust sold his soul for power and knowledge, be careful of selling it for less.


xi. Always dodge the question of genre.


xii. Making an impression and doing an impression are decidedly different things.


xiii. Everyone is right, let them be and shoot between the eyes.


xiv. You will be fooled by memorabilia on the walls of their offices, and that hanging on their tongues.


xv. Past achievements, have no baring on what is yet to be achieved.


xvi. Those who run your independent label would love it to be a major [or] Your independent label is owned by a major.


xvii. Borrowing anything from people who grow or sell drugs means you will get fucked by their paranoia.


xviii. All but the rarest percentile of bands ‘fail’ – this is because they co-opt the definition of success that their label operates by. Define your own success and your own failures. My biggest failure has always been judging character.


xix. You will notice yourself using their language.


xx. You will notice listeners becoming customers.

xxi. You will notice merchandising.


xxii. You may become an ingredient.


xxiii. This is the last form of indentured servitude.


xxiv. We have been empowered by the tools of their oppression.


xxv. You should drink every drink they offer, it is not a contract. They stole the money besides.


xxvi. There is no quickfix those sneaks just want your dough.


xxvii. Chewing coca doesn’t always help with heights.


xxviii. Be aware of the pins you can’t knock down, take yourself straight to the gutter - life is thick and thriving there.

xxix. Birmingham happened to itself.

xxx. Learn who your friends are; don’t make friends with bands who are hungry forit, they poison the air.


xxxi. Punk is not a style of music. One of the biggest punks I know plays the banjo. Some of the biggest sell-outs I know play punk.


xxxii. Use your honesty to pervert.


xxxiii. Repetition will put out the fire.


xxxiv. Your signature should be a last resort. You’d be surprised how long you can make that shit fly.


xxxv. Be wary of the phrase ‘In House’.


xxxvi. Solid state for fuzz.


xxxvii. You will need to survive off one and other.


xxxviii. You will be duped.


xxxix. You will be disappointed.


xl. Excel, but don’t lose sight of what you love

I had a weird feeling when i woke up this morning.
it was 4:49 and I was scared,
All I could think about was how It feels to be dead and What happens afterwards.
It made Me realize I need more of a Purpose in Life and stop wasting My days.

But I have many great stories for this Summer so far.
